Tips: Terms And Conditions

You will run into all types of buyers that try to move past the terms and conditions provided by eBay. Know the T&C’s inside and out and if you have problems, contact eBay immediately. A few examples of the insider secrets are listed below:

  • Bid Shielding – Two buyers work together. One person bids high to protect a low bid place by the other person. Right before the auction closes, the high bidder cancels, meaning the low bidder gets your item (s) for a huge bargain.

  • Bid Shilling – This is where the seller actually uses a separate ID set up to inflate the number and price of the bid.

  • Deadbeat Bidder – The deadbeat bidder bids on your auction and then simply fails to pay.

  • Sniping – A “sniper” is a bidder that waits until there are only minutes or seconds left on an item and then quickly bids just a little higher to get the item (s). Although not against the T&C’s, it is considered unprofessional and limits competing bidders from driving a high price.

Tips:- Communication With Buyer

It is your responsibility to contact the buyer at the end of the auction, congratulating them on winning the item (s). Issue an e-mail requesting their shipping address.

Once they provide that information to you, let them know when the shipment will go out, which should coordinate within the time frame provided in your auction description.

Once payment has been made, send another e-mail to the buyer confirming that you received their payment and that the item (s) will be shipped on X day via (US priority mail, UPS, Fed-Ex, etc.). Once you have a tracking number, send that to the buyer as well. This will allow them to follow the tracking themselves.

Tips:Offer Satisfaction Guarantee

When you offer your bidders a satisfaction guarantee, you are telling them that you are confident that your product can deliver, and if not you are willing shoulder the risk for them by giving them their money back…

Very rarely do they ask for one unless your product is poor.

This is one of the easiest ways to increase sales; if you have a good product to begin with, don’t neglect this technique. I see many sellers who don’t offer one when they could.

It’s a must to offer one with your Dutch auctions. A strong risk-reversing offer will clinch sales that pass others by.

Tips:- Reserve Price Violations

The Reserve Price feature lets sellers list items at low starting prices without the risk of selling an item for less than they are willing to accept.

Once a seller sets a Reserve price, any bidders who place bids below the level receive messages that explain they have not met the Reserve Price (the bidders cannot see the price).

If no bids cross the Reserve Price, no bidders win the auction. If in your listing indicates that high bidder must buy the item even if their bids do not reach the Reserve Price, eBay may issue you a warning or suspend your account.

Tips: Sell Small But Expensive Products

One of the best ways to make good money on eBay is to sell small but expensive items.

This allows you to move more items without the bulk of heavy shipping and to move fewer items while making more money.

This type of selling provides you with a much higher profit margin.

Tips: Don't Set Reserve Price Too High

Reserve pricing cannot be seen by the buyer, leaving them to question how much you are really asking. Do not set your reserve price too high.

For example, if you had an office printer for sale, you might list a reserve price, or a “hidden” base figure of $300.

However, to the buyers, in their opinion, this printer is not worth more than $150 since this is the average price from other sellers for similar equipment.

As the buyers start bidding close to $150 and they see that the reserve has still not yet been met, they will quickly stop bidding, unsure of what your “hidden” base is.

When you use reserve pricing, you should be avoided if it does not help to build buyers confidence on bidding.

Paypal:- Make Another Payment Instead ( 2 )

Paypal lets you make and receive payment, so you might wonder why you would want to bother issuing a refund when you can simply make another payment back to the buyer who paid you.

First,if you refund a payment, the person who originally paid you will see the status of that payment as Refunded rather than Completed. This might prevent the confusion that otherwise might arise if the buyer has to reconcile the original sent payment with a separate received payment.

Second, when you refund a payment, buyer will receive in full amount. If you were to send a separate payment, buyer will receive in less, as Paypal will deduct fees on buyer.

Tips: If the goods Are Lost In Transit

Once your merchandise is handed over to the shipping company or postal service, it's out of your control. For that reason, it's always a good idea to get a tracking number that you can share with the buyer. Otherwise the buyer can claim that the package had never been shipped.A delivery confirmation from the shipper can eliminate the uncertainty.

With the tracking number you can ease the buyer's worries about the shipment as well as head off their claim from you.

Tips:-Buyer told Goods Arrive Damaged

What happened to seller if buyer opens the package and sees that the item has been damaged in some way--or claims that it has been totally damaged .

If you packaged your item carefully, and photographed it clearly, you are technically not responsible for the buyer's complaints. If you don't do that you are at a big disadvantage, for you can't see the item to make sure the buyer is telling you the truth about the damage.

If you insured the item, yu can file a claim with the shipper and get reimbursed. But in most cases, you'll be better off simply refund the buyer's money and ask the item be returned.

Most importantly, if item is valuable, be photographed it and insured.

Tips:-Some Words Make The Difference

A few descriptive terms can make all the difference !

On eBay, certain words show up frequently in auction descriptions that are especially effective. They include:-

  • Original
  • NR (No Reserve)
  • New
  • MIB (Mint in Box)
  • Rare

For these sorts of terms, capitalizing them can help to some extent. Only capitalize the most important terms, so your auction is easier to read. But don't overused exclamation marks (!!!!) that will add nothing to the description.

Tips:-Gallery Images Helps More Bids

To sell more on eBay, you must includes graphic image besides words. Listing that are text-only are much less attractive than those that with images.

Gallery images--When bidders scan a set of search results, they'll notice that there's a big difference, in terms of visual impact between listings that have a Gallery images and those that do not.

A Gallery image is a thumbnail image appears to the left of your auction title. It also appears when shoppers click the Gallery view link in the left-hand column of a set of search results.

If your object is of good quality, a Gallery image can help get more view for your auction, and that means more bids , more sale.

Tips: Post Feedback As Seller,How & When

To leave feedback for another member:-

  • Click on the My eBay button at the top of any eBay page.
  • Click on the "Feedback" link under "My Account" on the left-hand side of the page.
  • Click on the Leave Feedback button.

From this page, you will be able to leave feedback for other members you've had a transaction with during the past 90 days, as well as visit your Member Profile page where you can review and respond to feedback left about you.

If you need to leave feedback for a transaction that is more than 90 days old, you may do so using the "single transaction form" link located on the Leave Feedback page. Remember, eBay only commits to items being available for 90 days, so if it is greater than 90 days you may not be able to leave feedback.

When to post your feedback as seller:

As a seller, it may not be a good decision to leave feedback after received payment, becasue it is much easier for a buyer with the slightest problem to leave a negative instead of contacting you to fix the problem. Personally I post my feedback only after buyer confirming package received in good order.

Fees On Auction Item With Reserve Price

When a Reserve Price Auction item is listed, insertion fees are based on the reserve price amount instead of the opening bid amount. The same fee scale is used to calculate reserve price auction fees. The chart below shows how these fees are calculated:

Starting Price, Opening Value or Reserve Price/Insertion Fee :-

  • $0.01 - $0.99/$0.25
  • $1.00 - $9.99/$0.35
  • $10.00 - $24.99/$0.60
  • $25.00 - $49.99/$1.20
  • $50.00 - $199.99/$2.40
  • $200.00 - $499.99/$3.60
  • $500.00 and up/$4.80
Therefore, opening bid of an auction at $0.99 with a Reserve Price of $200 would have an insertion fee of $3.60, regardless of what the lower opening bid amount is.
eBay also charges a refundable Reserve Price Auction fee on all Reserve Price auctions. This fee is charged as follows:

Reserve Price Fee:-

  • $0.01 - $49.99 $1.00
  • $50.00 - $199.99 $2.00
  • $200 and up 1% of reserve price (with a cap of $100.00)
This fee is assessed to your account when you list your auction, however, it is refunded if your auction receives a bid which meets or exceeds your reserve price.
Total, if the auction doesn't sell to a winning bidder, you pay the insertion fee and Reserve Price fee. If the item sells because the Reserve was met, the Reserve Price fee is refunded and you pay the insertion fee and the Final Value Fee.

Our fees are explained in greater detail on the eBay fees and Credits page located here:

eBay Fees and Credits

You can also reach the eBay fees and Credits page by clicking on "Sell" link from the Navigation Bar located at the top of most eBay pages. From the "Sell your item form" page, click on the "selling fees" link located near the top of the page.

Tips:- Make Titles Precisely With Keyword

eBay search engine will search exactly what you enter your keywoods. When creating your titles, don't allow any misspellings, because if you do, you wil be left out of all searches for the item you are listing.

On the other hands, it's smart to consider misspellings that average buyer might make. Purposely includes those in your title along with the correct spellings, and you will scoop up more buyers than your less savvy competitors.

For example, if you are selling a Canon camera, include "Cannon" in the title. You know it's wrong, but search engine will still pop up your listing for the customer who just happened to make a mistake.

Another example is model number, if you are listing Sony "STR-55", you may add in "STR55" in order to get more buyers who may type it as "STR55".

Tips: Sell Quality Items As PowerSeller Do

To be a top Power Seller, your challenge must be to build a renewable and reliable source of products that you can sell repeaedly to a customer base you will build over time.

Start from the beginning by stocking high-quality merchandise. It is impossible to effectively sell products you don't believe in, so don't even start with them.

Start any business, your main goal is building loyal, repeat customers , and that is more likely to happen when your customers know you sell quality goods. Keep this larger goal of building a customer base in mind and you won't even be tempted to scrimp on product.

Tips: Search Before List Your Items

On eBay, you must love your product line, but don't let your own feeling and opinions get in your way.

You can search completed items on eBay .But to learn what sells best, you can simple use Google to search for "best-selling". You just enter whichever item or descriptor you are working with. Best-selling color, best-selling scent, best -selling fabric, for example, will all show you what most shoppeers are looking for.

You will also find that you can do research everywhere you go, as long as you keep your eyes open. When you are going about your daily business, notice what items people seem to be using, wearing, or buying. Keep in mind which of these may be good for you to add to your listing.
